Highlighter still not working

Community Beginner ,
Jul 02, 2023 Jul 02, 2023

Adobe Acrobat Pro, I cannot highlight. I have tried everything in all of the suggestions from all the other posts. It's not protected, it recognized the text, I have updated and repaired, I have reset preferences, I have saved as pdf/x, etc. etc. if the suggestion exists in these conversations, I have tried them all. What next Adobe? I don't understand why such a frequently needed tool is so difficulty to use, and why so many people have gotten on these forums to figure it out.

If it matters I'm on a pc.

I have found the solution, which solved my issue. My highlighter had defaulted to 0% opacity. Here is the fix from Adobe:

"Select the comment and press Ctrl+E. In the floating toolbar that opens make sure the Opacity level is not set to 0%. If it does, change it. Then right-click the comment and select Make Current Properties Default."

Hi DazArt,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Please let us know if you still experience issues highlighting the text in the PDF. If yes, please confirm if this happens with a particular PDF.

Share the Acrobat and OS version numbers. Ensure that the application is updated to the latest version.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I am experiencing the same issue. it's not PDF dependent, it happens randomly all the time. one day it works, one it doesn't, i can't select more than a word to be highlighted (not sentences or paragraph). Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 2023.003.20244

It is not pdf dependent. it happens with any of them. And like the other person who replied mentioned, occasionally it will suddenly work for a minute, but then stop working again.

I was able to move from my pc to my mac and got the version on my mac working better.

I have what is probably the same problem. Selected highlighted text does not seem to appear.

When the "highlighted" area is selected, the region is surronded by a blue outline and the " Notes | Color (shows the color you selected) | Trash " pallette appears. The color palette can then be popped up and show the color that you selected.

If you then select the most saturated highlight colors on that palette, the faintest possible highlight of that color then appears. Its easy to think that its not there. Color changes in the Properties window act the same way. See the screenshot with three saturated lighlight colors

IMHO this a tricky bug that really needs to be addressed.

14" Mac M1 Pro, 2021

Sonoma 14.1
Acrobat Pro 2023.006.20360

Apple Display P3-500 nits (tried other display presets: sRGB, P3-D65, P3-D50)

**** Enormous complication *****

Just checked. The problem does not occur in Acrobat Reader 2023.006.20360

So is Adboe fixing this or what are we paying $20 a month for?

LATEST

LOL. yes. Although I no longer use Adobe products. The cost just isn't worth it any longer, and there are too many alternatives that do as well, if not better, for far less.
