Question

Highlighter suddenly has rounded edges...?

Hello,

Suddenly my highlighter has rounded edges.  It used to have square edges that ended with blunt crisp ends.  Now the edges are round, convex shaped at the end and it looks really ugly.  How can I get straight edged highlights again?

Thank you!

Nora, have you figured out a way to fix this? I have the same issue as you, except the style changed from rounded to blunt edges.

Kennedy, I had the same thing. It went from rounded to the blunt edges and I am not a fan. I do a lot of highlighting things in parenthises and it filled in nicely now it looks so weird. Hoping someone will help us fix this as I fill the rounded edges looks way more professional than this new way.

Hi there

We've received an update from the team regarding recent changes. We've transitioned from rounded to sharp edges highlighting. Please note that there's no toggle available to revert to the previous experience.

Hope this information will help.

My highlighter edges have been rounded for years. I've honestly never seen Acrobat be able to highlight with blunt edges.

There are other applications (like Preview on Mac) where the highlighter has blunt edges, but on Acrobat it's always been rounded.

By chance were you using another application before for your highlighting?

Hi, thanks,

I don't highlight super often, but no, it definitely would have been in Acrobat. I really don't remember it ever looking so obviously convex.  It looks especially weird on footnotes, like a bubble.   I saw some other posts that referred to a "round" tip vs. square for the highlighter but I don't see any way to select one or the other.

And just to clarify, I am using it on a document where the text is already recognized and I am dragging straight lines through individual characters (like in word, or to copy paste typed text etc), not the more free-hand version of the highlighter (like for scanned documents), which I do think was always round.

Attached is an image of one character highlighted.

Yes, that's how one character highlighted will look. There is no way to select round tip versus square tip, sorry.

The only way to get sqaure-ended highlights would be to use a different program.
