How can i differentiate Adobe Reader 64bit and Adobe Acrobat in the Registry or somwhere else?

Greetings,

we used the 32bit Adobe Reader until now and are upgrading to the 64bit version.

We used to differentiate the install with a script to search for "Acrobat DC" in the registry.

This worked for the 32bit Reader because if the 32bit Reader was installed it would state "Adobe Acrobat Reader".

With the 64bit version of Adobe Reader we only have Adobe Acrobat anywhere in the registry, and even the .exe is the same as the Acrobat.

Does someone have the same problem or some way to determine wich version is installed.

Kind regards

Luca

Hi @Luca28608628f4o8

The 64-bit application is a unified application for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. The default installation location is C:\Program Files\Adobe\AcrobatIf you have installed Acrobat Reader 64-bit and you purchase an Acrobat subscription, the Acrobat Reader 64-bit application will upgrade to become a fully functional Acrobat 64-bit application.

For more info. Please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/about-acrobat-reader-dc-migration-to-64-bit.html

Regards

Amal

Thank you for you answer, but this did not answer my question.
What files or registry keys can i use for checking what version is installed?

I am tackling the same issue and have found this to be a scriptable difference between the two versions.

Check for the existence of either of these files:
Adobe Acrobat Reader: - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\ReaderMenuCoreApp.msix
Adobe Acrobat Pro:  - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\AcrobatMenuCoreApp.msix

Only one of these files will exist in the above directory. Which ever one exists denotes the software version.

This has been reliable for us.
