I have an excel spreadsheet which is in landscape orientation.  When I converted it to pdf it came up as Portrait and some of the columns were on a second page, making it really hard to read.  How can I convert it to landscape in the pdf lease??

It could be caused if the page breaks of the Worksheet are set otherwise. For instance, if the Page Orientation is set as Landscape and the page breaks are altered, the page size of the resultant PDF may not be as expected. Page Breaks can be modified via VIEW > PAGE BREAK PREVIEW in Excel. To reset the page breaks, go to PAGE LAYOUT > PAGE SETUP > Mark the "ADJUST TO ..." field as 100% of the normal size, keeping the orientation LANDSCAPE.

Also, while using the PDFMaker for conversion it is preferred that you keep the Adobe PDF Printer as the default. This can be checked via CONTROL PANEL > DEVICES AND PRINTERS.

Also, if columns spanning onto different pages is a concern, you could try "Fit Worksheet to a Single Page" or "Fit to Paper Width" options via Acrobat Preferences.

Could you please check if this works for you. If not, it would be nice if you could share the Workbook and be more specific about the Office version you're on. Thanks!

Hi Deyvani,

No. I have triedagain, but the spreadsheet is uploading into portrait.

This is what is causing the problem - I need to get it to upload and stay in landscape.

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Kate,

What is the Office version you're on? Could you please check the paper size and confirm.

As to "We do not have a pdf printer, just an HP, but this has never made a difference before", Acrobat installs the Adobe PDF Printer with it. Using CONTROL PANEL > DEVICES AND PRINTERS, please set it as the default and then try.

Also, as stated before if readability is a concern due to columns overflowing onto different pages, you could try "Fit Worksheet to a Single Page" or "Fit to Paper Width" options, these can be set using the ACROBAT ribbon > PREFERENCES > Opting for the desired option from the Acrobat PDFMaker dialog that follows.

Plus, it would be really nice if you could share the Workbook.

Thanks!

- Devyani.

Thanks again for getting in touch, but I am hugely confused as I cannot actually find some of the commands you reference in my acrobat (Acrobat.com).  I am on Windows 7 and Office 10.

If I set the Acrobat printer as default won't that mess up my other printing?

If I fit the spreadsheet to paper width, it will be tiny and my board will complain again....

The workbook is a confidential budget and I'm not sure if I should share it - I don't really know who you are....in spite of the fact that we are incredibly grateful for your help.

I have attached a similar workbook, no longer relevant.

Thanks!

Come in for coffeee!
