How can Turn off the 'AI Assistant'?

New Here ,
Jul 16, 2024 Jul 16, 2024

How can I get rid of the horrible 'AI Assisitant' ? I hate, hate, hate, hate eeverything about it. I hate the popups that constantly get in my way every time I open a new PDF, I hate the way it dramatically slows down the application every time I want to just search for something, and I hate that way that it doesn't work at all or provide any value of any form. I just want it gone and never, ever, ever, ever, under any circumstances want it to be there getting in the way of every simple thing I want to do.  Please, please, please, please: how can I make it just go away? I just want to open and look at a PDF for heavens sake, I don't need any of this AI nonsense.

Hi all,

Your feedback matters—and we’ve listened.

We understand that not everyone requires AI assistance in their workflow. Many of you shared concerns about intrusive prompts and lack of control, and we’ve taken action.

Now, Acrobat gives you complete control over AI features through Preferences. You decide what stays on and what turns off—no enforcement, no surprises — just flexibility.

For more information on preferences, please check this out: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/we-heard-you-full-control-over-ai-features-in-acr...

Tariq,

Thank you for the updates; however, I have made sure that my Acrobat is up to date and then I unchecked these boxes, close the program -  only to open it again and the AI pops up again.

Hi @Sally33267070xawr

Thanks for letting us know. These preferences are tried and tested.
If you are using a Windows machine, launch Acrobat, Menu, then select Help > Repair Acrobat Installation. If possible, restart your machine.

Verify preferences by trying to enable and disable them. Close Acrobat and try again. Let us know how it works.

If the issue reappears, please provide the Acrobat version and OS name and version. And a short video that captures Preferences and the issue.

Thanks for reaching out, and for your patience.

Best regards,
Tariq | Adobe Community Team

Tariq,

I am using Windows 11 Pro version 10.0.26100 Build 26100 and Acrobat version:

I have repaired the installation, made sure all the updates are installed, unselected AI in preferences, closed the program and when I re-open it, they are still checked.

Hi Sally33267070xawr,

Thank you for the information.

As the preferences are not getting saved for you, could you please share the following information:

- Please confirm if you experience an issue with work or an IT-managed machine.

- Do you have a persistent or a non-persistent user profile?

- It would be really helpful if you could share a short video showing the changes you made in Preferences and how it appears after you relaunch the application.

We will get this checked.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

It's not solved. All the boxes you unchecked come right back when you open another pdf.
