How do I edit the text in one of the drop down options?

I am BRAND NEW to using Adobe. I need to change the name of the first item in my drop-down menu on a form. I can edit all other text on the document but not the text within the dropdown.

If you mean how to edit the text of an item you already entered under the Options tab, then it's not possible, unfortunately. You will need to add a new item with the new text, then delete the old one, and move the new one into its place.

If you wish to enter custom text in a dropdown field, go to field properties and under Options tab check 'Allow user to enter custom text'
