How do i search across multiple PDF files in a 3rd party CMS platform (Fortis)

Hi all

The organisation i work for uses the Fortis document management system to store and manage it files. We currently have about 77,000 files on the system, mainly scanned PDF

Following a GDPR review, it was highlighted that there are risks the documents might hold data that could be in breach of GDPR. We are therefore having to carry out a a document review to ensure GDPR compliance. We need to be able to scan in text within images. These documents are not searchable in Fortis and also Fortis doesnt have OCR functionality

My question is this:

Can I use the search features in adobe acrobat to search multiple files held in Fortis for potentially sensitive data and if yes, what are the detailed steps to implement this functionality? Im desperately hoping no complex migration or integration is required!!

Thanks for any support / info. We are looking at procuring a standalone CMS system to do the data search and cleansing so hoping Adobe can do the trick at a fractions of costs and effort

So. A really basic solution. We're going to export larger documents as PDF to windows network folder and enhance scans / make text recognisable using adobe and then carry out searches required using the agreed search terms. No migration required (for now), so result!

One question: can I carry out enhanced scans across multiple files (as with the Making text recognisable feature)?

Before dealing with how to search the files, Acrobat can't search for text that's inside an image, unless you first run Text Recognition on them.

This article  by Adobe indicates I should be able to make the scanned documents searchable using Adobe ?Turn paper documents into searchable PDFs

My question is whether its possible install adobe onto ac 3rd part party platform in order to run text recognition, make documents searchable and search within the documents without migrating the documents / data

Sure, Acrobat can perform Text Recognition on files.

I can't answer your other question since I'm not familiar with that platform.

Try creating an Action and see if you can select them. If so, then it should also be possible to search them, via the Advanced Search window.
