Question

How to access prior versions of a PDF

I opened a PDF from a website in Acrobat Pro. I did not save or download this PDF, but left it open on my MAC book Pro.

Several days later a new version of the PDF was uploaded to the website.  I wanted to retain the original version so I saved it to my documents, however this saved as the new version. How can I access the original version I opened?

Thanks

Liz

When you save a PDF file that's the version of it that you have. It can't update itself. Are you sure the version you saved was not the new one?

Certainly, Liz!

It sounds like you might be able to recover the original version of the PDF by checking your browser history. If you opened the PDF directly in your browser, you might find the original file in your browser's download history or cache. You can also try right-clicking on the saved PDF file in your documents folder and selecting "Restore previous versions" to see if there's an older version available. Additionally, using file recovery software could help if the file was recently saved over. Lastly, if you have a backup system in place (like Time Machine on macOS), you might be able to find the original file there.
