how to add headers in Acrobat on the Mac version?

Hello. I subscribed to Acrobat Pro, but in creative cloud and on my locally downloaded app, I just have access to "Acrobat".  I am trying to add headers to pages in a PDF, following these instructions: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/add-headers-footers-pdfs.html

But on my "Edit" menu there is no "ADD CONTENT" as it says there should be in the above help file. Could someone please explain what I am not doing correctly? If if makes a different, I am on a Mac.

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

 

The “Add Content” option mentioned in the help article is part of the Windows UI and may not appear in the same way on macOS. Instead, all header/footer options are nested under “Edit PDF” in the Tools panel.

If you don’t see “Edit PDF”:

  • Make sure you’re using Acrobat Pro, not just Acrobat Reader.
  • Go to Help > About Acrobat to confirm your subscription status.

If you have the free version of Acrobat Reader, you can uninstall it using the Acrobat Cleaner tool, restart the computer, and install Acrobat Pro from the direct Adobe link

 

How to Add Headers in Acrobat Pro on Mac
Open your PDF in Acrobat Pro.
Go to the All Tools tab at the top.
Select “Edit PDF”.
In the secondary toolbar that appears, look for “Header & Footer”.
Click “Add” to open the header/footer editor.
Customize your header text, font, alignment, and page range.
Click OK to apply.

Thank you so much for responding. I purchased a "Pro" monthly subscription. My copy of Acrobat doesn't say anything about it being a Pro version.  But it is definitely not reader.  
The problem is still that this edit menu, as displayed below, just has nothing there. I've logged on to a friend's Windows machine and found that the menus for Edit do work on my account --- on Windows. But I went back to my Mac and this is what it still looks like:

I just don't see where the add page numbers, add headers, options are etc.

We have verified your Adobe ID(email), which you have used to log in to the community. We see that the current Acrobat Pro subscription is inactive and cancelled. So please ensure you are using the correct Adobe ID (email) to log in to the Acrobat app on the Mac, through which you have subscribed to the license.

 

For the current issue, please reboot the computer once, then use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the currently installed Acrobat, restart the computer, and install Acrobat from the direct download link.
