how to compress a file so much?

Hi,

I found a .pdf file of 268 KB, when I extract the content I get 7.51 MB of images.
The point is, if I include the images in a .pdf file, I can't create one smaller than 972KB, then how was this file originally compressed?

Are you sure it's the images that take up most of the file size? Have you used the Audit Space Usage tool on it?
