How to create a signature field?

I am a freelance designer and I have created a form for a credit union. Now the credit union is asking me to make the form fillable. I am very familiar with this, EXCEPT there is a line where the end user needs to sign and date the form when they are done filling in. I have been messing around with this for over an hour. I do not know the best method to create a signature field. What I thought was adding a signature field looks no different than a plain old text field. When I tested the form, I could put any text in the "signature" box and there was no preference asking me to stylize my signature and no time stamp or anything that made it look like an official signature. I do not understand the steps. Can someone help?

Thank you.

Heidi

Sorry, Acrobat Pro DC (2017 release/continuous)

I don't know if I did it correctly, but I just inserted a signature field, assigned it a script typeface and sent it on to my client with the caveat that they will need to test it out and see if it meets their needs. When I test it, Acrobat keeps asking me to "configure a digital ID". I am not sure if the average user of this form will understand how to set this up.

When I recently had to read some forms for a new client, the form had me click and sign and choose a font and then it showed my name in a scripty font and gave a time stamp, all without needing me to do anything or set up a digital ID. This is the way I want my form to behave but I don't know how to do it.

Thanks!

What you did is the right way. The other method is not a real digital signature, just a fancy text comment.
