How to create an editable, sharable PDF in Acrobat Pro with specific fields required of text?

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to edit PDFs so that when they are shared, these options are possible:

  • Require receipants to insert text within certain fields
  • Make the required fields a certain color so they can see what is needed to be filled
  • Insert checkmarks or crosses ONLY as options for a checklist or similar

For example, a document such as this:

I've experimented with the "Prepare Form" tool, but but sure if this is a correct method in doing so.

Thank you.

Yes, prepare form is the correct way to go. But the PDF you posted does not contain any form fields.

They were created for Acrobat XI, but all the concepts and dialogs are the same. Only the first level UI has changed.

Thank you, Thom!

For my actual document that needed editing, creating the form fields was the method I needed to go under "Prepare Form" tool! Much appreciated and thank you.
