How to install 32 Adobe Acrobat Pro

Hello,

Our organization uses an application that has plugins with Adobe. The version that we are currently on does not support the 64 bit version of Acrobat. Is there a way to force install the 32 bit version of Acrobat?

A couple things I have tried:

1. Installing Acrobat from Adobe Creative Cloud used to install the 32 bit version by default, however within the last couple of months it now appears that it defaults to the 64 bit version having no way of chaning to the 32 bit version.

3. Installing Adobe from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

This appears to install the 64 bit version.

2. I also tried following the steps from this site: https://optiable.com/install-the-32-bit-version-of-adobe-reader/

When attempting to install Acrobat this way, we received an error that the installation fails.

Thank you,

Sam

Hi Amal,

Thank you for the reply.

It looks like installing Acrobat from the location you sent installed 32 bit automaticaly without needing the registry key. I will keep this key written down in case it is needed in the future however.

Thank you,

Sam

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble.

Please remove the application using the Acrobat Cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html and reboot the computer once. Then install the Acrobat Pro DC using the link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

To stop the Acrobat DC 32-bit application from automatically upgrading to the 64-bit version, create the following registry key before the first launch of the application:

  • In Start > Search, type RegEdit and press Enter. The Registry Editor is displayed.

  • Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown.

  • Create the following key:

    Key: bUpdateToSingleApp

    Data type: REG_DWORD

    Default Value: 0

  • Close Registry Editor.

    Hope this information will help

    Regards

    Amal
