How to remove white background after deleting image

HelloPlease see attached image of a photo of a document I took with my phone ..It has handwriting on it that I want to remove in Acrobat Pro.  The background is gray.  I can edit the image, then click it and press delete but it leaves a white background and some of the text is altered.  Is there any way to cleanly just remove the handwriting and not affect the background nor the text? Thank you very much!Craig

Hi this is a job for Photoshop or any image-adjustment application. Once fixed to your liking, then reconvert it back to a PDF.

Photoshop CAN open PDFs, but other pixel-based applications may not. If you're not using Photoshop, convert the document into a JPG or PNG before attempting to fix the handwritten section.
