Hi Adobe Support,
One of our clients is facing an issue where Adobe is opening with the attachments and tools panes opening on PDF launch by default. This covers the PDF and requires them to minimise the left and right panes EVERY time they launch a PDF.
Please provide a way to set the default behaviour with either a GPO or registry change or some other way that can be rolled out in an enterprise environment:
This is how it should look:

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you want to close the tool panes in Acrobat DC using the registry settings
Please checkout the steps shared in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/how-to-permanently-close-the-tools-pane-in-adobe-acrobat-dc.html and see if that works for you
Regards
Amal

Hi Amal,
Thank you for the prompt response.
This is great!
Do you also have a similar registry key to hide the left-hand side pane as well?
The attachments left-hand side panel keeps opening on startup.

Hi Amal,
We just tried this and it hasn't worked.
The registry key just reverts back to a value of 1 as soon as the user closes Adobe Reader.
It looks like the "Remember current state of Tools pane" option also needs to be ticked:
We were able to resolve this by setting the following registry keys:
aDefaultRHPViewMode_L = Collapsed
bExpandRHPInViewer = 0
bRHPSticky = 1

Hi Amal,
We still need to force the attachments panel to start hidden. Please see the example PDF in the screenshot below where this is an issue. (We have blurred out the contents of PDF for privacy reasons):
If we set "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" it appears to keep the Attachments pane hidden on subsequent launches. How do we set this via the registry:
Also, how do we make it so that the left-hand pane ALWAYS opens hidden, regardless of this setting being enabled?

Hi Amal,
The attachments pane is still opening up every time in one of our client's programs that integrates with Adobe Reader. We would like to know how to force this to start hidden (in this instance the user is unable to reach the top menu bar, so they would be unable to make the change themselves, so this would have to be enforceable via GPO or registry change.

This is a setting of the file itself. Open it in Acrobat and go to File - Properties - Initial View and change the Navigation Tab setting to "Page Only".

Hi Try67,
That option doesn't exist:
Also, in the case of this client, they are using an Acrobat integration that stops them from accessing the menu, so we need a way to set this "Page Only" view as default for all users and all documents without user interaction in an enterprise environment.

You're looking in Reader, not Acrobat.
And no, this is not a setting you can set at the application level, so that it applies to all files that are opened, no matter what.

Correct, this is viewed from Reader, but even if it was Acrobat Pro, the users are not allowed to access the menu, so we need a way to hide the attachments side panel on startup via either GPO, registry change or changing the Viewer.aapp file.
