How to use PDF form in Adobe Fill & Sign iOS app

Hello,

I've recently stumbled upon a seemingly simple but annoying problem while working with the Adobe Fill&Sign app on my iPhone. The forms I've designed in InDesign and saved as pdf form in Acrobat seem not to behave the way I expected them to. None of the in Acrobat generated fields (text and selection fields mostly) seem to be recognized by Fill & Sign app, no matter how specific and big I make them appear. Tapping on them returns a new text field positioned rather randomly. The selection boxes can only be marked by pushing longer and thus generating a completely new selection box. In short, the app doesn't know it's processing a complex pdf form.

Does anyone know how to tackle this problem? Can a pre-defined pdf be used at all in Fill&Sign app at all or is it only meant to generate a digital form from a printed one? Is there a better solution/app that allows to securely sign the filled forms? Thank you in advance for any advice.

Kind regards,

Kasia Wozniak

The Fill & Sign application is really designed (at this time) to enable easily filling non-structured forms, forms that do not have "real" form fields and it enables you to simply click to add text and annotations as well as a signature.  It does not recognize complex forms, Acroforms or LiveCycle XFA forms, it will simply bring in the basic layout without existing "fillable" fields or functional drop down boxes, buttons etc.

You can use Acrobat on iOS to fill out Acroforms that have actual form fields.  Fill & Sign can be used and works for most cases, but forms with more advanced features would work better in Acrobat.

Thanks,

Josh
