I can't change the font - Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020

I purchased a license for Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 last week. I need to edit text elements in a PDF document.

The text elements are in Market Sans - Regular font.

When I rewrite the relevant line of text, Adobe's Helvetica font (I use a Mac) is automatically used.

Even if I specify in the preferences that Market Sans - Regular should be used. I can't select any other font from the list. The program only accepts Helvetica. This happens with all PDF files I want to edit, even with an empty document. I've already reinstalled the program twice from the website. Can anyone help me? It can't be that I can't use the simplest function of Acrobat Pro.

Hi

Thanks for reaching out.

Font not embedded in the PDF

  • If the text you’re trying to edit uses a font that’s not embedded in the PDF, Acrobat can’t access or modify it.

  • Fix:

    • Go to File > Properties > Fonts tab.

    • Check if the font you’re trying to use/edit is embedded. If not, Acrobat may restrict editing or prevent font changes.

Also, check if you have embedding permission on the font: Market Sans.

Editing using the ‘Edit PDF’ tool vs. ‘Prepare Form’(Just mentioning)

  • If you’re editing form fields via Prepare Form, font options are limited unless specified in the field properties.

  • Fix:

    • Use Tools > Edit PDF to change fonts in static text.

    • For form fields, right-click a field > Properties > Appearance tab to set the font.

Let us know how it works

@tim_0931 It's possible that Helvetica is your default fallback font within Acrobat when it can't properly access or recognize the desired font. The fact that it's consistently defaulting to it suggests a fundamental problem in accessing other fonts. Is Market Sans - Regular installed on your Mac? While it might be embedded in the PDFs you're trying to edit, for Acrobat to use it for editing and adding new text, the font needs to be installed on your MAC. Double-check your Font Book application to ensure "Market Sans - Regular" is listed and active. And if not, you need to download and install it on Font Book

Although you just bought Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 was a paid, older application, it should generally function on compatible macOS versions at the time of its release. However, if you've upgraded your macOS significantly since then, there could be unforeseen compatibility issues. Check Adobe's official system requirements for Acrobat Pro 2020 to see if your current macOS version is listed as compatible.

Yes, I installed the font separately. Furthermore, it's not a specific problem with the Art font, but with all fonts. Adobe only uses Helvetica. I can't change the font to Arial or any other font.

I have a MacBook Air M2 with Mac OS Sequia. I can install the program normally and use everything else. Just not other fonts. And I already called Adobe Support last week, but they didn't tell me anything about compatibility issues.
