Question

I can't find info on what the Participant Role: prefill means

I thought the prefill would mean i would be able to open up a pdf and then fill in when sending for esig.

However, if i choose some fields on the pdf that I would need to change each time I send the form, and then click to get e-sigs, I enter in the email to send to, but then it goes to the next screen asking me to fill in the other fields? Not sure how this is supposed to work.

What I'm hoping to do:

have a basic pdf template that I use when sending out a contract

fill in the contract with my unique info and then send to recipient to initial/sign/fill in

Are you referring to an Adobe Sign form?

Yes, but from your description it sounds like this is actually an Adobe Sign form. Did you tick the box that says "This document requires signatures" when you created the form fields? If so, it converted the file to this (limiting) format. If you didn't mean to do that you can still revert it back to a regular Acrobat form, and solve most of these issues.
