I'm shocked that the hand tool is no longer available

I use the hand, (pan), tool constantly and now it is gone. I read in this forum you can disable new acrobat and have the old commands available. Why would we need to do that?? The hand tool is one of my most used tools. Am I missing something?

Hi @phil_1 , hi @creative explorer

Thanks for posting your queries and hiccups.

Reading down the comments, I see issues working with Hand tools and key shortcuts in Modern viewer. Please follow the below instructions to have a seamless Acrobat experience(without switching back to Classic view):

1. Hand tool can be accessed from Quick toolbar, where Select tool option is displayed. Hand tool is available as an option.

2. For using single key accelerator i.e. H, make sure below preference is turned On:

General > Use Single Key accelerators to access tools

P.s. works for both Win and Mac (requires app restart)

3. Holding Spacebar brings the Hand tool temporarily.

Let us know if this works for you!

Thanks,

@phil_1 if you hold the space bar, you still get the hand tool to pan around. I use the keyboard shortcut all the time!

Neither work until I disable the new interface. Actually typing H still doesn't work. It opens a text box to add to the doc.

@phil_1 I ama ssuming you have already looked at your Acrobat Preferences?

And 'Set All Accessibility Options?'

Test that. Good. If not, I would clear Acrobat Cache. I had some issues with all of the Adobe apps when I replaced my battery in my MacBook Pro. Apple had suggested this, and it worked like a charm! Now, I do it every month to speed things up. System - Library - Caches - and they suggested to remove the Adobe.

I was leery, and they said it gets re-created. I did have some doubt. So, I copied the cache first and copied it to a new folder, and then deleted it. And restarted it. And it worked fine!

Thanks @creative explorer but that didn't work. I switched back to new Acrobat checked my preferences and matched your dialog as well as I could but itlooks like you are on a mac. I'm on a pc in windows 10 with acrobat DC. When I right click< space bar it opens a comments text box. When I type H it also opens a comments text box. In the old acrobat I used to just take the cursor to the bottom of the screen and a toolbox popped up with the hand tool. When that went away, I used right click< spacebar to get the hand tool. Not working. I cleared the cache. No help there. Couldn't find how to access "Accessiibility Setup Assistant"
