From one day to the next I can no longer open adobe reader. Neither by double-clicking on a pdf file, nor by opening the app. I have done the following:
1. Uninstalled adobe reader
2. Thoroughly remove everything with AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2021.exe program
3. The PC restarted again in between
4. Reinstalled the reader (File: reader_install_setup.exe from https://get.adobe.com/de/reader/download?os=Windows+10&name=Reader+DC+2023.003.20284+German+Windows%...)
5. Advanced security is turned off in the Security menu.
6. In the antivirus program, I whitelisted Acrobat.exe
I can only start the reader as an administrator. But of course I don't want that. I want to be able to double click on a PDF. As always.
What's wrong with Adobe Reader? This was one of the easiest programs to run on any PC to date!
Anyone know an answer?

I hope you're doing well too, and thank you for reaching out.
I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing issues with the application despite trying several troubleshooting steps. It can be really frustrating when things don't work as expected.
Here's another step you can try to resolve the problem: Create a new test user profile on your Windows computer with full admin rights or enable the root account on your Mac. Sometimes, issues can be related to user-specific settings, so using a fresh user profile might help.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you can also use the Adobe Acrobat cleaner tool, which can help ensure a clean uninstall of the application. Here's the link to the tool: Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool. After using the cleaner tool, make sure to reboot your computer before reinstalling the application.
You can download the application from this direct link: Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Please give these steps a try, and let us know how it goes. We're here to assist you, and we hope to have your issue resolved soon.
Regards
