Installing Acrobat 9 Pro on Win 8.1

After doing a “clean install” of my Win 8.1 OS on computer I was unable to reinstall my Acrobat vs 9 Pro. I am getting the error OX800F0906 after trying to install NET Framework vs 2.0 (3.5 contains 2.0).  I had no problem with Acrobat 9 on the same computer running Win 8.1 prior to the clean install.  I have read much on the internet with others having the same issue but have failed in all of my attempts to use posted work arounds to enable installation of NET Frame.   Anyone’s help in solving this issue would be appreciated.

win 8.1 is not compatible with acrobat 9.  you can try using compatibility mode (xp or vista) but that may fail too.  your best bet is to use a computer with an old os.

note: acrobat 9 should not be used for anything that requires any level of security.

Can you explain why for a number of years Acrobat 9 Pro has been running fine for me on my Win 8.1 OS.  It is only AFTER I did an reinstall that this problem has occurred.  Is there no "work around"?  My old acrobat 9 does everything I want it to do and resent having to pay for an upgrade for a product that won't benefit me.
