Installing Acrobat X on Windows 11

Hi,

I purchased CS6 Web Design Premium a few years ago. Today, I'm attempting to install Acrobat Pro 10 on my new desktop running Windows 11, but it's not working; the application launches and then closes automatically. Do you have any tips for installing it on Windows 11? If not, is it possible to obtain a compatible version without having to make another payment?

I couldn't find a contact address to ask the question.

Thanks.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Adobe Acrobat X is an old and end-of-life application https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-x-reader-x.html also, it is not compatible with the new Mac and Windows OS. For information about the system requirements please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/system-requirements-old-versions.html

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I understand that the software is at the end of its support, but I have paid for it, and it has become unusable (other software in the suite, like Illustrator, continues to work without difficulty). I used it occasionally, which doesn't justify paying a monthly subscription. Furthermore, I have already subscribed to Photoshop and LR, which I had also purchased previously. I would appreciate a gesture from Adobe to allow me to use what I have paid for.

Regards,

There won't be an updated version of Acrobat X that runs guaranteed on Windows 11. To get it up and running, you need to create an environment as supported. Probably Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8. If it installed well (which will be most likely a miracle in itself), but does not run, you may try to use the compatibility mode.

It is, however, not guaranteed to run as you expect it. This is not Adobe's fault, this is due to the very profound changes that have been done in the different Windows OS versions.

Another tip is to make sure you install all available updates for it, up to 10.1.16.
Updates are available here:
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/10.x/
You must use a dedicated FTP client to open the link, it won't work in most browsers.

Thanks.

I've already tried compatibility mode, without success. Well, actually, the application worked for a few days and hasn't opened since an Adobe Reader update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything without success. I understand that there won't be an update for Acrobat X, but since I've paid for the complete CS6 suite and also have a monthly PS/LR subscription, I was hoping that a more recent version of the application compatible with my operating system could be provided.

Regards.

It won't be. You had plenty of time to purchase an upgrade but didn't do so, and now your version is too old to qualify for one.

By the way, you're asking for issues by having Acrobat and Reader installed at the same time, as it creates conflicts. You should remove the latter and focus on getting Acrobat to work.

Why should there? You will need a full Creative Cloud subscription or you will need a subscription for Acrobat DC (Pro) to get that. The time for special offers for your upgrade of Acrobat X are long past.

You may be able to buy a perpetual licence of Acrobat 2020. See here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/final-adobe-acrobat-pro-version-with-a-perpetual-...

I have a similar problem, i.e. I have a CS6 license key purchased for a large amount of money for an indefinite period and it works without any problems on Windows 10. When I try to install it on Windows 11, the same key is recognized as "invalidated" and I should contact the Adobe helpdesk

Hi there

Hope you are doing well.

Adobe CS6 is an old and EOL application suite and it is not supported on the latest Mac and Windows OS.

Hi Amal!

You are absolutley wrong. Adobe Acrobat Pro X works like a charm on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. To stop us users to continue using this version of Acrobat Adobe has blocked the servers that check the serial number. So all users that once paid for a perpetual Adobe Acrobat Pro X license are now being cheated big time by Adobe. I want to clarify that I do NOT NEED SUPPORT and I understand that the software is EOL and that me and all other users no longer have access to anything like support or  upgrades. The problem is that Adobe blocks the software from being activated and the right thing to do would be one of two things:

Reactivate the service that confirms a correct serial number or release a patch that approves a correct serial without the need of a external Adobe service or server.

So do not answer this post with yada yada about EOL. The EOL is for support and fixes and has nothing to do with the fact that Adobe knowingly blocks users from activating their perpetual bought software. We all know why and it is wrong and maybe even illegal.

So my question is,  how can I and all other users activate our legaly bought perpetual Adobe software regardless if it is EOL or not. EOL is not the same as blocking an activation so please answer respectfully to avoid losing customers and users.

It fixed the issue, but wouldn't allow me to use a few essentials (like combining pdfs into one, etc.). Wanted me to use Adobe DC, which I didn't have. Ended up deleting Adobe Reader and now it works fine. I use a web browser to read pdfs, don't need to use Reader anyway.

Yes.  Adobe X Standard worked perfectly on Windows 10.  Now I’m running Windows 11 and all my other existing apps work just fine on it.  But when I launched Adobe X Standard it asked me to “Provide a serial number”.  I did that by providing the serial number of the Adobe X Standard software product that I purchased and paid for.  Then I got the following message: “The serial number is not valid for this product” and a prompt to “BUY NOW”.  Mr. Shantanu Narayen , the Chairman and CEO of Adobe should be made aware of this problem and direct Adobe’s employees responsible for having caused the problem to correct it so that existing Adobe X Standard license holders can continue use that software.
