Interactive PDF errors on Mac versus PC

Good Morning,

I creative interactive PDFs in InDesign CC 2019 on a PC. These files work great on PCs with no reported errors. However, my Mac clients who open the exact same PDF file have glitches and problems in their usage. These problems include pop up text boxes appear blank, two pop ups trigger when they only click one, pop ups won't close when they click the close button. I troubleshooted this on my Mac and the first error warning was a text box that read "Adobe Application Manager Utilities" is not optimized for your mac and needs to be updated. My Mac is also producing errors and glitches in the file - very similar to what they had described.

So I have three questions:

1. Is this lack of optimization creating these glitches for my clients?

2. How can I optimize Adobe Application Manager Utilities so that I may instruct my clients to do the same?

3. If I re-create these interactive PDFs in InDesign on my Mac rather than my PC - would this solve the problem?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

There should be absolutely no differences in opening a PDF file on Windows compared to opening it on a Mac, assuming you're using Adobe software and that the file was created correctly. Are you sure you're opening the file using Adobe Acrobat or Reader, and not something else, like Apple Preview or inside a browser window?

Ah, yes, I messed up my end. Thank you for making me double check.

When the Interactive PDF was giving me errors, it was in the Safari browser. I downloaded the document and it appeared in preview on Safari.

I re-opened the downloaded Interactive PDF from my desktop on Adobe Acrobat, and despite the error message regarding optimization, the document is working fine.

Let me create a new ticket about viewing the Interactive PDF in the Safari browser - because that seems to be the true culprit.

If you're not using the Adobe plugin in Safari you should post your question in a Safari forum, as it has nothing to do with Adobe.
