Question

Is there a way to batch create PDFs from tiff images in folders.

Hello!

I have ~2000 folders of TIFF images (~2TB) and I would like to batch create PDF files (Create PDF-> OCR -> Shrink) for each folder on the hardrive. PDFS can be output in the individual folder or in a seperate folder as long as they take the name of the folder they originated from. Anyone have any ideas about the feasability of this?

It's not feasible with Acrobat. It's way too much for it to be able to handle, and it also doesn't have a feature for combining multiple files in the same folder as a single file, although that can be achieved with a script (but you'll need to first convert all the images to PDF and run OCR on them).

I've developed some (paid-for) stand-alone tools that can do it, but not the OCR part, so if you don't mind to later run OCR separately on the merged files in Acrobat then you can my tools for it.

Thanks! These look cool and great job!

Unfortunately I'm a graduate library student barely making food and rent on $12.01 an hour so those are bit out of my range 🙂

I'm trying to save the diaries of people who lost their lives to sickness or terrorism so that their families can have a digital copy too.
