Issue while opening RMS protected file in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

We have installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and all necessary pluggins required for opening RMS protected PDF files.

When we open PDF file stored in RMS protected sharepoint library, PDF file does not open and throws error as "This PDF file is protected,  You'll, need a different reader in order to view this content."

However, if open PDF file protected with custom azure RMS template, it opens successfully.

Hi Ratandeepraul,

Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

If the problem still persists, we would like to have some more information for a better understanding.

In the meantime, you may try the following steps:

  • Update the application to the latest version. Go to Help>Check for updates
  • Repair Installation. Go to Help>Repaire Installation (Windows)
  • Try to save the file on your computer and then try to open the file.
  • For testing purpose, you may try to disable the protected mode of the Acrobat Reader.
Go to Edit>Preferences>Uncheck Enhanced Security and turn off the protected mode. (Windows)
Go to Adobe Reader>Preferences>Uncheck Enhanced Security and turn off the protected mode. (Mac)
Note: Turn ON the security after testing.
  • Reboot the system.
  • For more information, you may follow the help article in the link-MIP plug-in download for Acrobat DC, Acrobat Reader DC

I hope this will help, keep us updated with the results.

Regards,

Amal
