Last Chance for Adobe - Large Drawing Help

Hello all,

The background of this post is that I (used to) use Adobe Acrobat for all of my large engineering drawing needs. As of their last update, that is no longer possible. They've actually gone out of their way to make this product unusable and I am at a loss.

I use this product EXCLUSIVELY for large-format engineering drawings in an industry that will probably FOREVER use large-format engineering drawings, and these documents are NEVER printed on paper. I need to be able to accurately zoom, scale, comment, mark-up, pan and generally just "use" large-format drawings (not large in file size, large as in document/page size 762mm x 1067mm).

This my last attempt to see if this Acrobat product still works (though I am told it does not). Can the good users of this forum help me? I need the following to happen in order for this program to be usable for me (and others in any related industry, I'm sure):

  1.  I need the zoom percentage to always be visible.
  2. I need to have the hand tool set to scroll/zoom and be the default ALL THE TIME.
  3. I need to be able to scale the document accurately EVEN IF IT IS DIGITALLY PROTECTED.
  4. I do not EVER want to select, edit, or otherwise interact with TEXT or WORDS of any kind, EVER. Seriously, EVER.
  5. I need to be able to TURN OFF everything related to this magical AI. I will NEVER need it (and part of this is that I generally just don't like it forced on me).
  6.  I need to be able to highlight items (THAT ARE NOT TEXT) by "coloring" over them with different shapes/colors and I need to be able to track those comments.
  7.  It would be nice if under the heading "All Tools" I had more than just AI Assist, Generative summary (not capitalized for some reason), and Use a Certificate (sometimes capitalized for some reason). Is this really all the tools I have? I can't find the measure tools under there because I can't find ANY other tool under "All Tools", what am I missing here? There's not even a search bar, which I HATE, but I don't even have that.
  8. I need the stupid BLUE BAR AT THE TOP OF EVERY SIGNED PDF TO DISAPPEAR SO I CAN HAVE MY SCREEN BACK.
  9. I need ALL of the tools and side panels to be positioned on another monitor so I can see my ENTIRE SCREEN.
  10.  I need this ridiculous floating toolbar thing to be GONE! In what way am I supposed to click on this thing to make it GO AWAY!! This is ridiculous, why won't it disappear!?!?!?!
  11.  This could go on for a while, am I crazy? Can I go back to a WAY older version or something?

I am told ALL of this is easily fixable, with a one-word answer, that starts with the letter "Bluebeam". I am also told that none of what I need is available in Acrobat (ANYMORE). I have been a LOYAL Acrobat user since 2003, and I find it hard to believe that ADOBE doesn't make a program for creating, viewing, scaling, and generally just using PDF's, but that's what I'm being told (by all of Adobe's competitors and all of my peers in my industry). I guess I am now asking the other Adobe users on here: does Adobe make a PDF product that will do what I need, or am I cancelling my accounts and headed elsewhere (this junkmail account was created decades ago and, hey Adobe, I own 100% of the stock in the corporation I work for, I make ALL of the decisions about the software used by me and my employees, AND this isn't the only Adobe user we're talking about, just FYI).

Thank you so much to anyone who actually reads this whole thing!

Hi, I found your post searching in Google, why is Adobe so bad at viewing technical drawings. I share your pain.

We used a virtual remote desktop system in Azure and just opeing a 3-4MB technical drawing in Adobe is met with a not responding or a spinning wheel. I push users to Foxit for viewing and light annotation which is great and very fluid in zooming in and around. Adobe you zoom in one level and the whole thing freezes for 10-20 seconds. I cannot see anywhere in the settings to overcome this. I now tell users that if the want to view a document with no images or drawings and just text use Adobe, otherisw use Foxit. Some of our users do ask for BlueBeam but its so expensive per user, it is only allocated ot a dozen or so staff. That said the Pro licence for Adobe has pushed up in price considerably.

Well, I got these two taken care of finally. Anyone able to offer help on any of the others?
