Question

Line spacing suddenly pushes default text beyond the top edge of any Form-Fill Text Box that I edit

The program has never done this before. Rich text is turned off. It only works if I change the font to something like Arial. I've also tried the edit rich text window (Command E) and that does nothing. There doens't seem to be a way to adjust the line spacing inside the text box.

I've used the Helvetica Neue LT Std for years in text boxes prior to now with no issues. Confused as to why this is happening now.

I have the same problem with the Myriad pro typeface. On Ventura 13.3.1 (a), Acrobat Pro version 2023.001.20177. I cannot create a new form and use Myriad Pro fonts in the fields. However, if I open an OLD form already using Myriad Pro (regular) in the fields it all seems to work fine, however I still cannot change to another font within the Myriad family- only the original font will work. My workaround has been to open an older form file, add my new form pages to the end of that form, then duplicate the form fields and edit as necessary. Then I just extract the new pages, save to a new file, and delete them from my original file. While that works somewhat, I've run into a situation where I need a different weight of Myriad Pro, and since I've not used that one in a previous file, I'm stuck. I've attached a walkthrough of me showing the issue and my workaround. I literally have 100s of menus using these fonts, and a pretty efficient system. Changing all the fonts will be a beast. I originally switched to Myriad BECAUSE it was an Adobe font, hoping to avoid situations like this.

FWIW, switching to "allow rich text formatting" moves it down a bit, but you still really need enough vertical space for two lines of text to get it to fit, and I prefer to use custom formatting, anyway, so that's not a valid option either.

Edit to upload correct file. This is a new form where the left hand field was created within the new form, and the one on the right was copied from a working form. Neither work.

Hi maryb37208661 and Sabine294657746rsr,

Thank you for reaching out and reporting this.

Would you mind sharing more information to investigate this issue?

- Share the Acrobat and OS versions.

- Check if this happens with other PDFs. Try creating a new test form and creating the same field.

- It would be helpful if you could share the sample file and screen recording of the workflow.

The information will help us to replicate the behavior.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Acrobat version: 2023.001.20143

Mac OS version: Monterey v12.5

It happens across all PDFs, only with certain fonts.

I don't have screen recording sofware but I included a sample working file with one form fill text box set to Helvetica to show the clipping glitch, and one set to Arial to show how it should look. I tried to include the font Helvetica Neue LT Std, but it wont upload here.

Hi Mary,

i have the same problem with the font "Myriad Pro" (and nearly every other otf-font i've tested) since i've updated Acrobat to version 2023.001.20143. Before i never had problems with that font (see attached image "richtig.png") the text was vertically centered in the textfield but now it's pressed to the top edge and even slightly cut of (not as much as in your case, but i think it's because the fontsize i use is only 9 pt) (see attached image "falsch.png").

Did you find a solution and if yes, would you share it with me?

Kind regards, Kirsten

How are you populating the fields? Are you typing them in manually, using a calculation script, an external tool, something else?

I'm using the attributes box that pops up when you double click a form feild in edit mode. There's a tab that has a "default text" input that you can set.
