Question

Margins change when producing PDF in MS Word

I can create a PDF from within word using the ACROBAT menu option (pdfmaker add-in). When I create a PDF, the top and bottom margins in the created PDF are different (larger) than the source document. When I print the first page to my printer in word, I get the correct layout. When I print the first page of the created PDF to my printer I get larger top and bottom margins. How can I ensure the margins in the PDF are the same as the source document? I'm using Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus (Word version 1908) and Acrobat Pro DC 2015 release. The first image shows the preferences available when ACROBAT is clicked. The second iamge shows the advanced settings. Thanks, John.

I have a workaround that solved my problem. This is a Microsoft Office issue, not an Acrobat issue. I say this because I get the same problem if I create a PDF with the "Microsoft Print to PDF" driver.

My original source document had a footer, but no header. For my workaround, I installed a blank header. Then in page layout, I reduced my bottom margin from .75 to .25. The PDF now has the formating I want. Printing directly to my printer gives different formating, but I ignore this and will set format for the created PDF.

The font sizes created by the PDF are slightly smaller than the source document (the 10 point body of document shows up in PDF as 9.96 point). I did find the note saying this is a known problem with msoffice and is close enough that it is not a problem. With my original problem (of larger margins), the font size was more visably smaller.
