Measuring Tool Dimensioning Line Weight

How do I change the dimensioning line weight of the measuring tool.  It is so large that it covers what I am trying to measure.

Correct answer MG121314

I am having the same issue.

When I measure, the line thickness during the measure is far too heavy/thick. When the measurement is completed it then goes to the 1pt as I have selected. I can't see where you change the thickness of the line while measuring. It is so thick, it is difficult to see corners or small details during the measure.

I found the asnwer on another thread...

Change the thickness of the ploygon line under comments to 1pt.

I am delighted I found the answer, but this is the most stupid place to make the change to the line thickness, is this a bug Adobe, that could be fixed?

Hi sd95548406,

By "dimensioning line weight of the measuring tool" do you mean the thickness of the line?

If yes, you can decrease the thickness of the line from the Dimension line properties window.

For that, select the dimension line and then right click on it.

Select properties from the drop down and change the thickness under the Appearance tab.

Check the screenshot below:

After changing the thickness, check the box for "Make Properties Default" and click OK to save settings.

So the next time you use measuring tool, you do not have to change the thickness.

Let us know if you have any questions or if you are referring to something else.

Hi Meenakshi,

Your solution is for the line weighting once the measurement has already been completed. I think what the OP is asking (and what I am also having an issue with) is the thickness of the line when the measurement is still happening. For example this only happens when I am using the perimeter measuring tool - I can't see what I'm measuring because the line is so thick, but after the measurement is complete the line snaps to the "1" thickness it is set to in the dimension line properties window. It's very frustrating and I have no idea how to fix it.

If you have a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem when using the "perimeter" tool!
