Minimized window size not maintained in Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional 8.3.1

This is an odd problem to explain, so bear with me. Here's the point-form general idea ...

  1. open PDF File1 (opens in maximized window)
  2. minimize File1 window & set desired size for that window
  3. close Acrobat while in the minimized window
  4. open PDF File2 (opens as expected in desired-size minimized window just set)
  5. maximize File2 window
  6. open PDF File3 (opens as expected in maximized window)
  7. minimize File3 window ... does NOT go to desired size as set for File1, but a minimized size from some previous session

That's the best I can describe the issue. Essentially, the ideal minimized size I want (per File1 setting on close) just won't "keep". Acrobat keeps reverting back to a prior minimized-window size I had set months ago. And I can't get it to "forget" that size, and stick with the one I want.  I've attached two screenshots to show the "desired" minimized size (aaa), and the one that keeps coming on opening any subsequent file (bbb).

The only clue I have is that it seems the minimum-size change is an artefact of tiling windows vertically, as this started some time after I had done that.  Also, this runs on Windows Vista.

The need to keep changing window size is making me crazy, as I use the program a lot. Sure hope somebody has some insight.

Sorry, didn't notice you're using Vista. In that case, it is compatible with your OS. And I'm very aware that Acrobat 8 was a very good app. Much better than the current version in many ways... But the fact remains it's not used by almost anyone any longer, so you're not very likely to get any help with this matter, I'm afraid.

This is an extremely old version of Acrobat, not supported by Adobe and not officially compatible with any current OS, so problems are to be expected. If this is the only issue you have, consider yourself lucky.

You must not be very familiar with this version of Acrobat, or the OS it's running on.  Both are ROCK solid, which is why I have no need to change. Problem is, this "burp" in minimized-window size is a new phenomenon, as in over the last few years.  It comes, then ... mysteriously ... goes.  I had posted a similar question a few years back, and the problem just went away.  So, I let it be ... but now the problem is back, and I'd like to keep it away permanenetly.

As for considering myself lucky, hardly.  If you were to use this tool as often as I do, you'd quickly see why this is not tenable, as it requires far too many window resizes per screen. In a busy day, it's an unnecessary waste of time.
