MS Word "Save as Adobe PDF" is no longer working?

I have created a lengthy manual in Word, and up until just recently, when I "Save as Adobe PDF" it would work and even keep all the links from the table of Contents, etc.  

As of this week, "Save as Adobe PDF" appears to be doing something...then absolutely nothing.  I CAN create a PDF if I use, "Save As" and select PDF or if I use "Print to PDF" however I lose all embedded links and it is completely flattened. I tried converting the Word file, by bringing it into Acrobat and only got an error stating it is unable to produce a PDF.

 

Did something recently change?

    **UPDATE** I have since uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat, and the entire MS Office 365 suite.  Still no fix.  While PDFMaker is running, it crashes and shuts down Word, completely.

    I did, however, find a work around that allows you to keep embedded hyperlinks within the document when converting it to a PDF.  I found that, while in Word, if I go to Export>Create PDF/XPS Document It creates the PDF with embedded links.

     

    Although you shouldn't have to go this route - it works.
