New Adobe Acrobat DC Layout

A couple of weeks ago I opened a pdf and found that there is a new layout to my Adobe Acrobat DC.  It appears to be very much the excat same program, but now all of the Tools are on the left, rather than the right, as well as a few other minor changes to the appearance.  What I can't figure out is if there has been any added benefits.  Hard to imagine it would be an update that only forces you to relearn where all of the Tools are, but doesn't offer an added benefit with the change.

And if there is no benefit, is there a way to revert back to the older layout?

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change; however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive & get more out of Acrobat.

As we made these changes in the interface, we have tried to ensure all tools & features currently supported retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version. We are committed to addressing any gaps or issues users report related to any break in current workflows in all our past & upcoming releases.

If any of your current workflows are not functioning as expected, share them with us on this thread, and we will address them with the highest priority.

We appreciate your valuable feedback! We're always looking for ways to improve Acrobat, and we appreciate the time and effort you have taken to share your feedback.

If your critical workflows are impacted, you can switch to the old UI from the "Menu" on the top left corner of Windows and View Menu on MacOS. We will follow up with a detailed community-featured post, guiding you to familiarise yourself with the new interface and regular updates on upcoming changes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

'Be kind and respectful'

Half trues and empty frases are very disrespectful, Anand Sri. Though your wording might be polite and even border hysterical enthusiasm ("We appreciate your valuable feedback!"- don't faint now, will you), you didn't address any of the concerns, didn't offer any explanation on why or how this interface switcheroo is better for users (it's not) and simply showed us your company doesn't really care.

Change for change's sake is a waste of your company/development resources and the resources of your end users. Also, if your end users were not consulted on (1) the need for any change in the first place, and (2) what types of changes (if any) should be made, then this was an even more shortsighted decision than I thought. Customers can typically deal with change if they are made aware of it and made aware of the reasons for it, but when it's essentially the same interface but mirror imaged and without some features quite as prominently usable (or missing), that messes with our logic. It also messes with people who may have disabilities and struggle to learn one format, only to discover that the format they have finally become proficient in using has suddenly changed on them.

I am less productive and am getting less out of Acrobat. I was only able to rescue the situation by googling "why does the new adobe reader suck" and was directed to how to change back to the last version. If you make this "updated" edition the only one, I will be looking at how to switch to a different reader! It's brutal.

Hello - I don't mind the new interface, but I really miss the full toolbars that come up for 'comments' for example. The new, floating, toolbar isn't as useful - and lacks functionality. If you could bring back the secondary toolbars, that would be a huge improvement!

Ok look adobe, I can't see  all of my PDF Documents in a glance, because you cut off SO much of my PDF Viewing tabs that I have not idea what i have already read and pulled up.  Also you got rid of the save function on the bottom of the page so that takes more time for me to compile and save documents. I mean you just confused us all and made the document brighter? Why? Why? Why?  I need to resort back to the old view because of these false and dysfuncitonal upgrades.

There is one huge problem with your comment, "however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. " The new interface is so bad no one is going to spend enough time using it to get familiar with it.

Hello
I was able to revert back to the old UI. However knowing that I also need to keep moving with the flow, I would like to know how I can re-establish the new UI?

No, it complety sucks.

- Page counter and navigation hidden in the bottom right corner?

- Why can't i personalize navigation panel (add icons)?

- Why can't i hide Bookmarks in the right bar?

- Why can't i personalize Tools on the left panel (for example My Tools panel not All Tools)?

- Why can't i fully modify Toolbar (i can't remove Fill in or Draw icon)?

- Why can't i make Toolbar horizontal?

Agree 100% with the above - but it's been that way since 'DC' was released - even where you can customise tools / menus, It's made useless when using functions like 'Windows snap' (half-screen display)...
But, they did mnake sure you always get to see 'Home, Tools, Document' & Share File, Feedback, Tutorials, Notificatons & profile buttons - 50% of the Menu bar taken up with useless 'features' (none of which help daily productivity)

Spent ages trying to find navigation tool for preious view. You used be able to customise and include previous view on the ribbon to assist with navigation. That is no longer an option it seems. Now, I belatedly discovered, the previous view tool is hidden away in the menu section, where you have to go to View, then Page Navigation before you can access the tool.
How is this more intuitive???

Thanks!  I'm so used to the original format.  Adobe claims this is more intuitive.  I'm sorry, but it isn't.  What happened to the ribbon at the top that allowed me zoom in/out (+/-), Fit One full page, etc.?  I can see where I can "Set Destination" for my Bookmarks (right click), but where is Fit One Full Page??  Also, I'm not sure it makes any more sense to put the bookmarks on the right; what's the point?  In Tools, I could Optimize my document "Reduce File Size", and it was that simple.  Now, I have way too many options...   I'm sorry, but it seems more complicated and less straight-forward.  I know one could say to just use the shortcut keys on the keyboard, but I run so many other programs that I don't have the time to memorize another one.  I'm more graphics oriented.

Why would you get ride of "SaveAs Local" under File. Why are you moving things around. Tools on the right of the screen make much more sense than tools on the left. The majority of people are right handed and use the mouse with their right hand. Individuals who have Adobe Pro are using the program for the TOOLS. Therefore, it makes sense to have the tools on the right. I can promise you none of your users are saying WOW this is great - they rearranged things to make it more difficult to use and now we cannot find anything. Let's relearn this whole program over again.

This new layout makes ZERO sense. I probably use Adobe more than the people at Adobe and if I have to relearn where everything is then I might as well learn a different software that is cheaper but works just the same! BTW-what happened to "SaveAs Local" under file. Did you just do away with it because no one ever wants to use Adobe Cloud?

ha - adobe cloud. it has to be one of the most useless ill-thought out tool. Every time you look at a document in the adobe cloud, it is problematic. You cant scroll through documents in the adobe cloud, as they suddenly disappear if you try to do so....
No wonder canva took off. Adobe is just so lazy and lacking in customer focus.

Im tired of Adobe making changes to keep their designers employed. There are no productivity gains from your last changes of Acrobat, in fact it is the opposite!

As you can see from the general feedback you have completely missed the boat on this update and whats more infuriating is that we can't download previous versions.

Adobe, try and keep in mind that us full time employees need to complete tasks in a timely manner, stop rearranging your apps!

For a company that had $7.3 billion in cash flow this year, you have NO idea about consitency in layouts.

At least give us the option to use previous version.

I agree, this new layout is not intuitive and I have been using it long enough now to know I hate it.  I really hope they DO NOT get rid of the option to Disable New Acrobat.

This new layout is the worst.  It's not intuitive at all.  It's very hard to find what you need.  It takes more steps to don a task than before.

Everyone in my department has switched back to the old layout.

For the love of God, is Adobe bent  on running some sort of a social experiment? Have used their products for 20+ years all the way back to the black and white Macintosh days and nearly every recent 'update' is some absurd 'let's screw with end-users' workflow' so we can waste their time as they Google for a solution to undo the disasterous change.

Whether it is fundamentally altering the functions of tools, i.e. swatch pallet, loss of Pantone, zoom, free transform, or forwarding a woke political agenda of renaming "Master Pages" to "Parent Pages" hard to state any of it adds value.

Perhaps a silver lining to this is that it will serve to finally motivate creators to look for alternatives.

Because paying endlessly for a continually degraded product/efficiency/experience is very poor customer service.

Agree this new layout is dreadful. No way to customize where buttons are. Why a floating toolbar that is in the way? Can't remove the commenting icon (I don't use it...EVER) Can't put the tools I do use in that toolbar. DREADFUL.
