I just got a new work PC and when I installed Acrobat pro on the new PC, the blue share button is not there anymore. It's just an envelope that allows me to send the document via email. Please can someone help me to get it back as I use this function on a daily basis.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

If you are on the classic viewer of the Acrobat application, please check the steps shared in the correct answer marked here  (https://adobe.ly/44jfUgP) and see if that works.

Also, go to Preferences (Ctrl,Cmd+K) > Email Account > Under, sen files by email setting Uncheck 'Always send file as a link' > Click OK and reboot the application and check.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. However, I do not have the link icon that I should click on. I am at a loss on what to do...

Is no one able to help me? I can't be the only one with this problem?

Hello @lindab27276074!

I hope you are doing well, and we are sorry for the delayed response.

Is it an IT-managed computer or a personal computer? The blue Share button in Acrobat is part of Adobe’s Document Cloud sharing workflow, which allows you to generate a link to share a PDF for viewing or commenting. If you're only seeing the envelope icon, it likely means Acrobat is defaulting to the email-based sharing workflow, which bypasses Document Cloud.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20531 (Win) | 25.001.20529 (Mac), planned update June 10, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Check Preferences. Open Acrobat, Go to Menu > Preferences > General. Scroll to “Show online storage when opening files” and “Show online storage when saving files” — make sure both are enabled.
Then go to Preferences > Email Accounts. Click “Default Email Application…” and set it to your preferred client (e.g., Outlook). Uncheck “Send link in attach to email” if you want to attach the actual PDF instead of a link.

If none of these steps restore the blue Share button, it may be due to a policy restriction or custom deployment configuration on your work PC. In that case, your IT team may need to review the installation package or registry settings related to Adobe Document Cloud services.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
