OCR does not work

I am usinjg Adobe Acrobat DC -- with latest (Dec 2019) update installed.  Running on an Alienware workstation with lots of RAM and other things.  Latest Windows operating system.

I have started receiving this message when I try to OCR a document:

The procedure entry point ?SetFavorTextOverLayout@COcrContextAdvancedParameters@IDRS@@QAEX@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Acrobat\plug-ins\PaperCapture\OCR\libraryinf.dll

I then see a pop-up telling me that my Acrobat installation is probably corrupted, and suggesting I uninstall and re-install.  I have done so several times -- with lots of shutting down PC after installing and re-starting.  It makes no difference.  I still get this error message.

I get it on different PDF files, from different sources.  It does not appear to be file-specific, but something in the software (or not in the software) itself.  This is naturally furstrating because the OCR feature is one that I use all the time, and the primary reason I pay for Acrobat DC rather than using the free reader.

Can anyone assist?  I'd be most grateful.

Thank you.
