Question

OCR on Greek text

I tried to OCR a printed page in Greek, made into a pdf from a Greek .doc. Although Acrobat asked me for language and I gave Greeek for the OCR and though it went through the motions, though suspiciously quickly, the end result is not searchable as it should have been. Any suggestions?

Hi @apostolosd79871343

Can you please share the PDF in which issue is reproducible with us to investigate further.

Thanks,

Maybe the quality of the original image is not good enough for the tool to identify the text in it. Even something like a background image or graphic can throw it completely off. There isn't much you can do about that in Acrobat (short of trying the various resolution settings). Your next steps will have to be improving the image quality (using Photoshop for example) or using a stronger OCR engine (like ABBYY FineReader).

Thanks, but image is perfect. It's a pdf of a word document.

Then why do you need OCR at all? Didn't the original Word file contain actual text?
