Is there anyway to make Office 2016 64-bit compatible with Adobe Acrobat DC Pro PDFMaker?
I make PDFs of all my e-mails and this feature is sorely needed. Right now I have to use Nuances
PDF Converter Pro to do this. I prefer to use only one PDF program. Earlier versions of Acrobat
and Office did a better job than Nuance but I haven't been able to get the new versions of Office
and Acrobat to co-operate. Why can't Adobe keep this function on all versions of Acrobat?

Please note that I received this email from Microsoft support this morning. I would like to point out that it solve the issue with my system.
Michael, we released an Office update last week that fixed the crashing issue with the Adobe add-in. Can you update your copy of Office 2016 and let us know if that did the trick?
Here's how to get the update:

Yes!! Updated Office 2016 and PDF maker works again. Awesome. I have been so slowed down by this PDF/Office 2016 incompatibility.
Thank you Microsoft and thank you Adobe forum people.

‌Yes it has worked for me but in excel 2016 I have to keep adding add because button doesn't show, I have tried removing add on and re-installing add on, no luck. I also reinstalled Adobe Acrobat dc and still the same.

Unfortunately I have the same issue with excel, its frustrating but at least I produce the pdf files as I need them.

Re-posting with correct key hive location:
Hi All
Go to Start > Type Run.
In the Run window, type regedit.
Go to below key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin
Please change the Loadbehavior key value to 3. (decimal)
The add-in should stay now.
Thanks
Tanvi

Unfortunately every time I close one of my excel sheets then reopen the same one again or an other spread sheet the addin isn't there any more. Oddly enough though is there for Word and Publisher. However when this conflict first started I accidently hit the remove the addin, now when I make it an addin it won't stay. I have to keep going to the add coms and re add it but once you close it down it won't come back up again. it could also possible be due to macros as well, I'm not an expert in that field but I due recorded marcos in my work sheets. It could be nothing, i'm just not sure.

Hi
I would suggest that you close all your Excel files, quit Excel completely and then try modifying the registry key.
Let us know if this fixes your issue.
Thanks

Thanks, but sorry to report no change. Still the same issue.
To be perfectly honest I still believe this is a Microsoft issue, not acrobat DC issue, however any support with a possible solution is greatly appreciated.

HAS ANYONE found a cure for links not working? My problem was never crashing, I could make PDFs they were just useless without the internal hyperlinks. I have updated everything--uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, deleted/re-added PDMOfficeAdd-in, updated MS Office to build 16.0.6568.2036.
INTERNAL links (TOC!) are NOT working. This is holding up release documentation. I would distribute (write-protected) word docs but they look awful in preview, it's just unprofessional. Many many hours spent here with no resolution.

Hi
Acrobat DC does not support link creation with Office 2016 currently.
This feature is only supported with Office 2011.
Thanks

Thank you for the information, at least I can stop making myself crazy on that score. I have the Technical Communication Suite so that is aggravating. Can you confirm that DC will work in Office for Mac 2011? I will buy it (again) for mac if it does what I need (desperately)..

Yes. DC will work with Office 2011 and ToC links will be retained.
Thanks

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the information! I downloaded the trial and yes, blessed day, internal links work. The aggravation at the expenditure of hundreds of dollars in software and the loss of many hours will sink in later--for the moment I am elated that I can distribute technical documentation.
Thank you thank you thank you.

Okay, well it isn't working well, my joy was short-lived. It worked for one table of contents. It did not work for a table of contents that had office symbols (flags) embedded in some of the entries, not sure if that was it or if it didn't work because it was a bit longer (but @70 pages so it shouldn't choke due to doc length). thanks for letting me know that adobe doesn't support internal toc links in windows the flip cost is that MS Word for Mac 2011 doesn't support bookmark links internally (there is no tagging/Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF) apparently. I'm in a particular sort of hell.
Any other discoveries would be greatly appreciated.
update: I uploaded LibreOffice and so far, even though no TOC links, all of the other features.

Indeed, the Office 2016 last update (March 4) fixed the add-in for small files (few pages); however, I still encounter the same problem for large files (more than 150 pages). I have a thesis I want to convert with PDFMaker and the same error (prior to March update) appears.
Note that in word 2016, the "save as" than select pdf extension is working (not to confuse with "save as Adobe PDF").
Any idea??

My recommendation to anyone struggling with PDF conversion and dead links is to download LibreOffice. It's free and there is a lot of help online for it (though I made a contribution to them and encourage others to also) It is a bit challenging because the docs leave the familiar word format but it It helped me to reclaim control over my life and links.
Apparently Adobe, Word, Apple don't care enough to make these apps compatible for end users. Word for Mac 2011doesn't support bookmark links and MS doesn't support TOC links (or it's the other way around?) Both choke on large doc conversions.

Midou... I get the same... small files ok but a 180 page manual goes for a crap and I keep being asked to disable the addin for Word

After two weeks of pulling my hair out (what little I have left anyway) your fix to roll back to the previous update worked beautifully!

I'm having the same problem. It keeps asking if I want to disable when it stops (Word 2016). I think I have managed to get it to work once.
