Old Acrobat license release

Hello please help! I have an old copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro and my windows installation just crashed. I have a new copy of windows installed but I can't activate it because it says the license is already in use. Tried talking to support and they were unable to resolve the issue. How do I get the old key released and activate the new copy?

What version of Acrobat is it, exactly?
If it's not a very old one then the only recourse is to contact Adobe again and ask for an "activation count reset" for your license. Only they can do it, and it's the only way you would be able to use it again.

If they refuse to help because it's an old version (which might be true, but not relevant to this issue) ask to talk to their supervisor.
