Open attached Excel file with macros from PDF

One of the people I support has created a Word document that he wants to distribute as a PDF file. He wants to attach a .xlsm file to it that can be opened by clicking an icon in the PDF.

Is this even possible? I keep getting a message that the Trust Manager settings don't permit this, and the most recent information I found says that Acrobat won't open an Office macro-enabled attachment. I'm hoping this is something that has changed in the last 3 years or so!

Nevermind, I found the answer (finally hit on the right terms for Google). The answer is you can't open or save macro-enabled files that are attached to a PDF anymore. A further search reveals it might be do-able if you're willing to edit the registry, but I think that's going a bit far for what my SME wanted to be able to do.

If you open your PDF with Firefox you can see the attachments and save.
