Opening downloads & don't want all in Adobe

Hello everyone! I recently got a new HP All-In-One desktop and when I download a file, I don't always want it in Adobe, sometimes in Word. And of course, with new Microsoft 11, downloading the Word app itself seems to be impossible, ugh. I don't want everything to open in Adobe and Word isn't available to select as an option. And then I get an error (I uploaded a screenshot) when trying to open a simple Adobe document. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Hi @Laurie31088855ujit

Looking at the description above, it seems you have the Acrobat setup as the default app to open all the files on your system.

However, it's supposed to open the .pdf files only. Any other file than the .pdf should be opened in its respective app., like MS Word for .docx, or MS Powerpoint for .ppt and Excel for .xlsx

Download MS word as suggested above, and set it to the default app for opening .docx files.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Of course you can install Word on Windows 11...

To associate docx files with it right-click one such file, select Open With, then select the Word app from the list and tick the box to always use this application for that file type.
