Page content not showing in reading order panel; Read Out Loud reading artifact marked text.

I am trying to prepare a very long (300+ page) document for accessibility. At some point a page seemed to bug out causing it to not show any of the page's content in the reading order panel, even though everything shows up appropriately in the tags/content panel. This is causing ROL to not read any of the page text except for an image description and the page number (which is marked as an artifact). The following page (which is part of the same 'story') does not have the same issue, neither do any of the other document pages. I would export just the one page and replace it in the pdf, but it would break the link in the table of contents tool (as its the start of a section).  What may have caused this and are there fixes?

Hi @Bria348368273oz1,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the experience with Acrobat!

Since you experience this with a single page out of the entire document, we can try out a few steps to check and figure out a solution:

1. Check Layering and Grouping: Sometimes, elements on the page might be layered or grouped in a way that confuses the reading order. Open the Content panel in Acrobat and check if any objects overlap or are grouped incorrectly. Try ungrouping them or adjusting their order.

2. Verify Tags: Check the Tags panel to ensure that all text and images on the page are tagged appropriately. Sometimes, a missing or misconfigured tag can lead to issues in the reading order. You might want to manually add or correct tags for any missing items.

3. Use the Reading Order Tool: Use the Reading Order tool to manually set the reading order for the page. This tool can sometimes fix issues where the automatic detection fails.

4. Run Accessibility Checker: Use Acrobat’s Accessibility Checker to identify any additional issues that may not be immediately visible. This tool can help highlight problems with tags and reading order.

5. Create a New Page: As a last resort, you can create a new blank page in Acrobat and copy the content from the problematic page to the new one. This often resolves underlying formatting issues. Please keep the same structure for the links in the Table of Contents to maintain them.

If you still experience the issue after following the above steps, please share the sample file with me, to test the issue in house and get back to you with a better solution.

Hope this helps.
