Parse barcode in PDF as text

Hello,

I am using the Adobe Acrobat 10.0 Type Libary to parse PDFs word by word and looking for 'code words' to extract the pages into individual PDFs. The user wants to use barcodes instead of text for the code words. The barcode would just decode to the text of the code word. I tried inserting a barcode from the Prepare Form menu in the PDF, but the 'GetPageNthWords' function of the Adobe object didnt parse it as text.

Is there a font I can use that will show as a barcode, but be discoverable as text by the Adobe library?

Are these available fonts in Acrobat or do I need to add them?

You will have to install them yourself on your computer, and then they will become available in Acrobat.

There are various fonts that can be used to create such barcodes. If you use one of them you should be able to copy the barcode's value as text, yes.
