PDF file in outlook preview is different than the downloaded PDF

I have a PDF file attached to an email in outlook.  When I preview the file it shows the correct information on the PDF form it has the correct date and everything.  IF I download the file or just open it from the email it shows and older form from 2001.  I have never seen or heard of this before.  Anyone else out there?

Hi @mrogers442

Hope you are doing well.

I have a PDF file attached to an email in outlook.  When I preview the file it shows the correct information on the PDF form it has the correct date and everything.  IF I download the file or just open it from the email it shows and older form from 2001.  I have never seen or heard of this before.  Anyone else out there?

This is quite an odd scenario, that file changes back to 2001.

The possibilities we could think of here,

  • When you are previewing the file it's the latest one. but when downloading, it opens the old form. So maybe the new file is overwritten with the old one.
  • Click on the drop-down arrow of the attachment and select "Save As". Now save this file to a new location with a new name, not the same name suggested and displayed in the title.
  • Is your default app for PDF viewer Acrobat or Outlook attachment opening on the web directly?

Check with any other attachment pdf. As it could be a problematic file.

Thanks,

Is it possible to look into this issue even more.  We are having a similiar issue, where the PDF viewed in outlook shows the correct fields being filled in with information.  However, as soon as the PDF is opened in Adobe, regarless of how it is saved/printed to, etc. the fields are blank.  It does not happen to EVERY document.  This form was sent out to about 20 different companies.  About 5 of them returned are having this issue.

We're having this issue too. Used an old version of the file and updated/saved then my boss sent it to me. No matter what I do, the old version shows up as soon as it's downloaded though the new version shows in the viewer

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response; this is for future visitors to this thread.
If you are experiencing this issue, it is more likely the issue is how the file/form was created and using which application for the form was created.

If you have a similar issue while posting your question, please attach your document or at least a sample document that exhibits the same behavior. We will look into it and share our findings or workaround.

If you have further questions, requesting you to create a new post.
