I produce a lot of dual language (English and Chinese) interactive pdf forms (on a Mac) using Helvetica as the default font for the fields. I now have to produced a Chinese only form which can be filled in with Chinese characters in Singapore and Hong Kong. Is there a font that I can use which will work on all platforms?

Hi @AdrianHutchins

You can use Acrobat to view, search, and print PDF documents that contain Asian text (Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean). You can also use these languages when you fill in forms, add comments, and apply digital signatures.

The Acrobat installation includes width-only versions of many common Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fonts, therefore Distiller can then access these fonts in Acrobat. Make sure that the fonts are available on your computer. (In Windows, choose Complete when you install Acrobat, or choose Custom and select the Asian Language Support option under the View Adobe PDF category.

For detailed information, you can refer to Adobe article PDF fonts, Adobe Acrobat

Language Support and Configuration — Enterprise Administration Guide

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi Akanchha - I need to know what font to apply to all the form fields so that it will work on a Mac and PC using Acrobat Reader. The pdf will be sent to Asian clients so they need to be able to type in Simplified Chinese. Is there anyway of embedding a font into the fields so that the clients can simply just type without having to try and fix any font issues? Is there a universal Simplified Chinese font to use?

Hi Akanchha - Just wanted to check if you have managed to find an answer to my Asian font issue?
