From Publisher (if you haven't tried this yet), try a Save as, and choose PDF as the file format.  I just did this and ended up with a properly-oriented PDF version.  Printing to PDF, if that is how you were making the PDF earlier, can be troublesome in many cases, in my experience.

My best,

Dave

Hi Ruth,

Please refer to this KB doc. for help Print horizontal or vertical pages | Acrobat, Reader, make sure that you manually choose the Portrait option in the Page Setup dialog box while printing the documents.

Let me know if you still experience any issue. We will be happy to help you.

I am having this same issue, and my print handling screen does not look like that - assumedly b/c that is an old sheet from 2015.

How can I fix this issue? All my print settings say portrait - but it comes out landscape when printed. 😞

Same issue. I just updated to Windows 11 and started having this problem. Was not an issue prior to the update....grrrrr. Why do I update????

Hello @social_wanderlust7172!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

As you mentioned, this issue only began after upgrading to Windows 11. Based on the previous discussion in the thread, this behavior, where PDFs print in landscape despite the printer being set to portrait, may be due to how print settings are being interpreted by Acrobat in the updated OS environment.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to your printer manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver compatible with Windows 11.

  • Windows Updates sometimes apply generic drivers that may not properly retain orientation settings. Also, ensure you have all the operating system's mandatory and optional updates installed.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20521 Planned update, Jun 02, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine.

Reset Page Setup in Acrobat:

  • Open your PDF in Acrobat.

  • Go to File > Print.

  • Make sure “Auto-Rotate and Center” is unchecked.

  • Set orientation explicitly to Portrait.

  • Click “Page Setup” at the bottom left of the Print window and manually reselect your printer and Portrait orientation there, too.

Print as Image (Workaround):

  • In Acrobat's print dialog, click Advanced, then check “Print As Image”.

  • This can help bypass rendering issues tied to OS/printer compatibility.

Please give these steps a try and let us know if any of them help.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
