PPkhandlerimpl-83 error and unable to bring Word/Excel files in to Acrobat

I am not sure if the two problems are related, but they both are occuring.

1. When I try to Insert in any Word or Excel file I get the following:

"Additional files will need to be installed to create PDF from this file. You must have Administrator privileges to install these files.  Please contact you local system administrator."

2.  When I try to digitally sign a PDF with Certificates I get the following message reguardless of which PDF I try to sign:

"Creation of this signature could not be completed.

Unknown error
Support Information: PPKHandlerImpl-83"

This is on a new computer with the following software installed.

Windows 10 Version 21H2

Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 Version 2020.004.30017

Office 2021

All software has been fully updated.

I have tried removing and reinstalling Acrobat which did not work.

Under Convert to PDF in Preferences Excel and Word are listed.

I am able to Create PDF with the Acrobat tools in Word.

Hi @Tony225245016lwe ,

We tried to check the issue at our end but we couldn't reproduce it.

Could you please try few things at your end to better understand the issue-

  • Try the same workflow with sandbox off.(Go to preference->Security(Enhanced)->uncheck "Enable protected mode at startup")
  • If there is any antivirus on the customer’s machine, try disabling that antivirus for testing purpose only and then try the workflow.
  • Make sure that the .Net framework in the OS is not damaged and up to date.

If you still face the issue then please Share Process Monitor logs with us.
In order to do so, follow the steps below:-

  1. Download Process Monitor from Windows Sysinternals page, extract and run it
  2. Perform your actions on Adobe Acrobat to reproduce your issue.
  3. Stop logging events on process monitor and save it on your local disk

Then you can attach the .log file here for us to have a look.

Thanks,

Prashant.

"Enable protected Mode at startup" was already turned off.

I have not been able to disable the Trend Micro Security Agent due to needing a password from our network administrator.

I have run the .Net Framework Repair Tool.

There was no changes in what is happening.  I have uploaded the logfile when I did the work flow to certify a document.  I have also discovered another issue.

When I go to Edit->Preferences->Security and click on More... under Configure Server Settings, I get the error in the image.  I am beginning to think that a Windows service that is needed is disabled.

I did get Trend Micro Security Agent disabled, but that did not make any difference.

My .Net Framework updated today, but that did not make any difference.

Hi Tony,

For the #2 issue

"Creation of this signature could not be completed.

Unknown error
Support Information: PPKHandlerImpl-83"

Can you please try disabling a prefrence and then try signing.

Go to Edit -->  Preferences --> security  --> Uncheck the "Use SaveLogic CryptoCompany algorithm"

and then try digitally signing.

Please share the results with us.

Reagrds,

Hi Tony,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry about the trouble.

1. As you are trying to insert the Word or Excel file, could you please share the complete steps you do?

Are you attaching these files to PDF or you are trying to create a PDF from these format files?

Share the screenshot of the error message. Also, let us know if you suing a personal machine or the work machine.

2. For the signature issue, please try the steps suggested in the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-creation-signature-could-completed.html to check if that makes any difference.

3. You have mentioned that you are not able to add an image of the signature under the Fill & Sign tool. Please let us know what happens when you try and share the screenshot of error messages if you get any.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

That did not help.

The image below is what I get anything Digitially Sign.  At this point I have not even been able to get past selecting the area to apply the Digitally Signature.

I click on Fill and Sign.

I click on sign.

I click on Image and then click on Select Image.

I then browse to the image.  Once I select the image I get Opening Image File as Adobe PDF.

This time it did let me use the image, but once I exited and got back into Adobe the image is not longer available.
