Cannot find "simple" instructions to prepare a PDF document for digital signatures (plural) NOT ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES. Need also to be able to add a date. Thanks in advance.

What sort of preparation? You just sign it. You decide whether to lock before Handing on to the next signer who has Acrobat. Never sign the document twice with same signature, never never. The signature panel will show the date. No need for a separate one, indeed it would be counter productive to add info for people to trust outside the panel.

1. If you need to add a date other changes you MUST do it before you sign, not after. The signing is final, not a step along the way, to be added to in any way.
2. There is no preparation needed. You just sign. However, you need to give careful consideration to the certificate you sign with. Is self certification enough or does it need to come from a legal authority?

Nancy's reply has given me another idea. As I said you do not need to prepare a document to be signed in Acrobat (paid product). But
- if you want to fill in a form, it needs to be prepared
- if you want people who have only the free Reader to make a digital signature, it has to be prepared as a form with signature fields.

Where I live, legal forms/documents have one signature line.
Dates and other information are entered into the form input fields.
