Print problems- image quality

When I try to print my PDFs the quality of the print is poor and not clear and crisp like the PDF image on screen - it comes out grainy/dotty and or faded.  is there some settings I should be using to print other than the obvious (best quality printer settings etc.).  Also, could it be to do with the settings I use to create the documents?

Thanks.

it could be the settings, it could be “Print as image” (advanced button on the print dialogue), it could also be your printer settings and may be 100 other causes.

Look into “print as image”, if that is not the case, post your PDF settings and/or share a PDF file with us.

I had this problem after installing Acrobat DC on a MacBook Pro Mojave with an HP LaserJet Pro printer.  It was fixed by deleting and reinstalling the printer.
