Print to PDF - Aptos

Now that Microsoft is using the new Aptos Font everywhere, how do we print to PDF?  Everytime i try i get a error message that ends " %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"  Other than highlighting the document and changing the font, i can no longer print to PDF.  This is an issue as I print to PDF many times over a day to conform to our business process.    Will this be fixed soon?

Adobe now supports this print by default . We dont need to manually change any settings , and print works just fine .

How do I get my Adobe Acrobat to recognize Aptos?

Never mind, I followed the steps above to unclick the box for Rely on system fonts only

Permanent solution found - at least util Adobe updates again and screws it up:

Open Printers & Scanners in Windows Settings.

Open Printing Preferences for the Adobe PDF printer.

Click on the Adobe PDF Settings tab.

Uncheck the box "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.

This seems to be sticky so you don't have to remember to do it it every time you print to pdf from an email.

Thank you Kelly, you beat me to it.  I was about to post same when I came across your Sept 15, 2025 post.  So far it has continued to work.  And, I think I don't have to be concerned about Adobe updates because I am running Adobe Acrobat X Pro installed on my desktop (not cloud based), purchased around 2011, and not getting any updates for several years!

Forums like this demonstrate the maxim: "All of us are smarter than any one of us".

"Will this be fixed soon?" posted on Feb 01, 2024.  Obviously not, probably due to incompetent programmers at Adobe.  Today is Sep 15, 2025.

Just use the "Microsoft Print to PDF" option that works easy peasy.  Good old MS did something ages ago while Adobe sat on their hands clipping the ticket.

I have this issue specifically when using Microsoft Print to PDF. Has anyone encountered this variant and have a fix?

It seems the new Aptos font is causing issues when printing to PDF. This could be a compatibility problem with the PDF printer you're using. Try updating your PDF software or using a different virtual printer like Microsoft Print to PDF. You can also temporarily switch to a more widely supported font until a fix is released. Hopefully, Microsoft will address this issue in an update soon

This is an older topic, but I stumbled onto the permanent solution for this based off my fruistations with another font I was using.  Basically you need to download the font you are having issues with and "Install for all users".  In this case

  1.  Go here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=106087
  2. Find the download and save the .zip locally.
  3. Extract the files to a folder.
  4. Select all extracted files.
  5. Right Click and select "Install for all users"

Tah Dah no more errors!

This has bothered me for over a year and I was so excited to find a solution.

Worked great - tested it immediately after installing and the email I tried to print before which failed printed to PDF perfectly.  Thank you.

This thread is a little outdated at this point, but Adobe has since released a regfix, so that you won't need to make the change below for each job; remains fixed for all "Adobe PDF" print jobs:

If you are using a Windows system, you can also use the Windows native printer "Microsoft Print to PDF," and you will end up with a PDF in the correct font.  Just be aware that Acrobat still won't have a matching font available on the resulting PDF to edit the text, but you can at least open it in Acrobat.

That definitely works, but just be aware that "Microsoft Print to PDF" creates files that are significantly bigger than Acrobat's. From some of my (informal, non-rigourous) testing, about 7 to 8 times as large. Even though we may effectively have unlimited storage now, sooner or later we may hit the unlimit, and smaller files are obviously better for downloading or as email attachments.

Very useful tips, thank you very much. When will Adobe be ready?
