Hi there,
I am trying to print a diagram to pdf. When I use the "Microsoft print to pdf" virtual printer and open the pdf in adobe acrobat reader DC it gives me the error "An error exists on this page..." If I open the pdf in Edge it opens but certain shapes in the diagram are deformed.
I then tried the "Microsoft print to XPS" and converted the XPS to PDF using the XPS viewer in windows. When opening the pdf in adobe I get the same error.
Lastly, I tried converting this XPS file to PDF using a random online converter. I then opened the converted pdf in adobe and it is displayed perfectly.
What could be causing this and how can I fix it so that I can print to pdf directly?
Many thanks,
Duncan

Assuming you have either Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro, do not Print to PDF becuase you are letting Microsoft do the print process, not Adobe.
Look for "Save as Adobe PDF" to do the PDF creation. If you can't find that, than either you do not have Acrobat Standard or you do not have Acrobat Pro. If you do have one of them and you still can't find it, than there is something wrong with your instillation and you need to uninstall and re-install.
Most of the PDF creators do not follow the ISO standards for proper PDF generation. If you see the "Save as Adobe PDF," than you should be good to go. (But hey, even Adobe can have issues, but here? It's Microsoft.)
Let us know if this is what works.

Hi Gary, thanks for the info.
Yeah I presumed the problem was with the Microsoft print to PDF. Unfortunately the program that I am exporting the pdf from only has a print function. Does Adobe have an alternative to the Microsoft print to pdf that I can install as a virtual printer?

I can only help you so far depending on your OS. I'm on a Mac and am fairly a Windows lummox. Here's a screenshot of what I do on my Mac. some of the printer's windows vary but the basic is pretty consistent: A dropdown menu for PDF and on the bottom is the Save as Adobe PDF. The one big variation on this is on any Microsoft application where there is a separate Ribbon for generating an Adobe Acrobat PDF.
