Print to PDF - Loss of hyperlinks

So something in the latest version of Adobe PDF (or perhaps the operating system side of things) has annoyingly began overriding hyperlinks in PDF documents.

 

When I click "Print" and then "Print to PDF" - I WANT THE LINKS TO REMAIN CLICKABLE.

 

I don't care what printing is supposed to be. For the past 2000 years, Print to PDF has allowed the links the remain clickable. Why stop now?

    Correct - I have just tried Print to PDF on Mozilla FireFox and it works fine. It is only Microsoft Edge where there is a loss of this function.

    Because it's Christmas.

     

    Are you sure that you were not using the last 2000 years the Acrobat macros inside of Word?

    I hope this message finds you well. I've encountered a frustrating issue in the latest version of Adobe PDF, or possibly on the operating system side of things, where hyperlinks in PDF documents are being overridden.

    Specifically, when I click "Print" and then "Print to PDF," I expect the links to remain clickable. Historically, over the past years, Print to PDF has allowed this functionality, and it has proven to be quite valuable. I'm curious if there's been any recent changes or settings that I might be overlooking.

    I appreciate any insights or guidance you can provide on resolving this matter. Maintaining clickable links during the PDF printing process is essential for my workflow.

      Yes it appears to be Operating System based. As to who would be contacted about it - I guess Microsoft?

      Windows. Just the print dialogue box on windows. As usual. However, now the URLs are removed.

      For the past 2000 years, Print to Adobe PDF has removed hyperlinks and other features.

        You, and others like you, on similar threads to this one, say this same rubbish over and over again. NO. It HASN'T. I have been using PDF's generated via Print to PDF for a long time, and the links have always worked. I don't know what you have been using. Do you think I am imagining this? Do you think I have been taking drugs or something?

        May I suggest you keep your answer open, as it may help others too to understand the difference between Adobe PDF and Microsoft PDF creation. I have to admit, that understanding this is not easy for the novice user.

        @Abambo, I will have to rewrite it, but I still have the screenshot, which is the core of my response.

         

        Since I'm on a Mac, I can show what the Mac displays from the Print dialog window, but it's essentially the same on the PC (just different).

         

        The option on top shows what the OS presents for creating a PDF. Adobe creates the one on the bottom for Acrobat. The second one will not be there if you do not have Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro installed (Mac or PC). 

        This makes a difference because Acrobat ties more closely to the ISO Acrobat standards than just about anyone else. For many purposes, either works fine. But when issues arise, you know who to point figures at, er, no. Then, you know who to contact for help or bug reports. Well, same difference.

          Hi, @J3442459761kb. Are you sure you are doing "Print to PDF…" and not "Print to Adobe PDF…?"

           

          Because if you are doing the former, that means it's your OS that's doing the PDF creation, not Adobe. Adobe has no control over that because it's using the PDF generation that's done within the computer's OS.
